BISKWIT

  • part of speech: noun
  • meaning: biscuit; cracker; cookie

KABUOK

  • part of speech: counter noun / quantifier
  • meaning: piece; a whole unit of something
  • when to use it: it is used with numbers to count individual, whole objects. it functions like the word “pieces” in english when counting.
  • example sentences:
    • mipalit ko og tulo ka buok pan. (i bought three pieces of bread.)
    • pila ka buok saging ang imong gikaon? (how many pieces of banana did you eat?)

PLASTIK

  • part of speech: noun or adjective
  • meaning: 1. (noun) plastic, the material. 2. (adjective, slang) fake, insincere, two-faced (referring to a person).
  • when to use it: it is used to refer to the synthetic material called plastic. in modern slang, it is also used to describe a person who is not genuine or who pretends to be a friend.
  • example sentences:
    • palihug, ibutang ang mga basura nga plastik sa saktong basurahan. (please put the plastic trash in the proper bin.)
    • lisod saligan ang tawong plastik. (it is hard to trust a fake person.)

SINSILYO

  • part of speech: noun
  • meaning: coins; loose change
  • when to use it: when you are referring to coins rather than paper money.

KUWANG

  • part of speech: adjective
  • meaning: lacking; insufficient; not enough
  • when to use it: when you are describing a quantity that is less than what is needed, or when an element is missing.
  • example sentences:
    • kuwang ang akong kwarta para ipalit anang sapatos. (my money is not enough to buy those shoes.)
    • kuwang og asin ang imong giluto. (the dish you cooked is lacking in salt.)

SUKLI
